An octagonal sewing box

A Quaker star blooms on the lid of this octagonal sewing box, the side band repeats its motif four times all around, and on top sits a little two-tier pincushion, two octagons stacked like a tiny wedding cake.
I stitched it on 36 ct Cameo Pink, one of my new hand-dyed linens, with The Thread Gatherer Silk ’n Colors from the lovely Stitch in Harmony collection by Cecelia Stricklin. The chart includes a step-by-step finishing guide with photos and the octagon templates.

Finishing
- A step-by-step finishing guide with the project photos is included in the chart, with the Large Cover Octagon and Small Octagon templates.
- Materials · Skirtex, 1.5 mm cardboard, quilt batting, finishing fabric, fabric glue and cotton stuffing for the pincushion.
- The lid is padded and backed, the side band is lined and shaped into eight sides, and the base is covered with linen and finishing fabric.
